Thanchi is located at a distance of 79 km from Bandarban. Thanchi Bazar is located on the banks of the river Sangu. The boat has to be slowly ascended towards Remakri along this Sangu river.

After some distance of the river, it has gone down 1-2 feet and even down to 4/5 feet. On either side of the river you will find high hills wrapped in green.

How To Go Nafakhum Falls

To go to Nafakhum Falls you have to go to Bandarban first. Then from Bandarban to Thanchi, from Thanchi by boat to Sangu river to Remakri market. From there you have to walk to Nafakhum Falls of your dreams.

It takes 3 hours to travel from Bandarban to Thanchi in a reserve local car. In the rainy season, it takes two and a half hours by engine boat from Thanchi to Tindu. It will take another two and a half hours to go from Tindu to Remakri. Here is your full details how to go Nafakhum Falls. Lets go.

From Dhaka to Bandarban

S. Alam, Unique, Hanif, Shyamli, Saudia, Saint Martin etc. bus leave for Bandarban from Dhaka city. The fare of these non-AC buses is 550-650 Taka per person and the fare of AC buses is 950-1500 Taka per person.

Besides, you can go to Chittagong by train from Dhaka and from there you can also go to Bandarban. Sonar Bangla, Subarna Express, Mahanagar Express trains go to Chittagong every day from Dhaka.

The fare of these trains is 320-1500 taka depending on the class. And if you don’t have a budget problem, you can fly to Chittagong and from there to Bandarban.

In that case your rent can be from two and a half thousand to 10 thousand taka. Then you have to go to Bandarban by bus from Chittagong. The rent can be from Tk 220 to Tk 250.

Thanchi from Bandarban

From Bandarban you have to go to Thanchi. There are two ways to go from Bandarban to Thanchi.

By bus or reserve jeep. After an hour from Thanchi bus stand in Bandarban, the local bus leaves for Thanchi.

Bus fare is 200 taka per person. It will take 4-5 hours.

In addition, going to the reserve jeep or moon car will cost from 5,500 to 6,000 taka.

It will take 3 to 3 and a half hours. One car can carry 12-14 people.

Remakri from Thanchi

When you reach Thanchi, you must first find a guide. You can’t go on a trip to Nafakhum without a guide. Anyone who gets permission from the upazila administration can take it as a guide. The guide fee is 1500 taka till you return to Thanchi the next day.

Note that Remakri is not allowed to leave Thanchi after 3 pm. So you must have Thanchi by 2 p.m. If not, I have to go to Remakri the next morning.

After getting permission, small engine boat has to be rented from Thanchi Ghat. 4-5 people can go in one boat. The boat reserve up to Remakri will cost 4,000 to 5,000 taka including going to the reserve and coming the next day.

It will take two to two and a half hours to go. If there is less water in Sangu river, you have to get off the boat and walk in some places. Then it may take a little longer.

Nafakhum Falls from Remakri

It takes 2-3 hours to walk along Remakri canal to reach Nafakhum waterfall. However, this time depends a lot on your walking speed. During the monsoon, the Remakri canal has a lot of water. Somewhere waist water or somewhere more.

Nafakhum Falls | Where will you stay?

According to the standard, the daily rent is between 200-1000 taka. In addition, the Remakri market has accommodation for the tribals. If you want to stay in a tribal rest house near the Sangu river, the rent will be 150 taka per person.

Nafakhum Falls | Where to eat?

There are some fairly quality dining hotels in Thanchi market (near Nafakhum Falls). You can eat any one of your choice. Remakri also has meals at tribal homes. I have to say in advance. A lot of eating arrangements in the package system.

Usually it will cost 80 taka to eat rice, mash, fried and eggs. If you want to eat chicken instead of eggs, it will cost 120 taka. Let the guide know in advance what to eat and how many to eat. However, you will discuss the cost when ordering.

Caution in Nafakhum Falls travel

If you go to Nafakhum Falls in the rainy season, you must take a life jacket with you.
You need to use good grip shoes for trekking.
The rocky path is very slippery, so be careful not to slip while walking.
