Bangladesh Engineering University is one of the leading engineering-related education institutes in Bangladesh. BUET was established as a survey school for surveyors in the late nineteenth century.
In the following year 1876, the British Raj established an institution called Dhaka Survey School. Its purpose was to provide technical education to the employees who participated in the government work of British India at that time.
