Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has named the train ‘Mitali Express’. The train will run twice a week from both the countries.
Several projects including Dhaka-New Jalpaiguri ‘Mitali Express’ train were virtually inaugurated on 27 March 2021. The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The train will leave Bangladesh on Monday and Thursday. On the other hand, it will leave India on Sunday and Wednesday.
It will run regularly from Dhaka Cantonment Railway Station. It will have a total of eight passenger coaches. Four cabin coaches and four AC chair coaches.
The fare from Dhaka to New Jalpaiguri has been fixed at 2,200 taka (Mitali Express Ticket Price). People from the north will also be able to travel from Chilahati station.
The train will run through Chilahati in Nilphamari, Bangladesh and Haldibari in India. It will have two separate coaches for Chilahati station in Nilphamari.
People from all over North Bengal will be able to get on the train from Chilahati to New Jalpaiguri and from New Jalpaiguri to Chilahati.
The train will leave New Jalpaiguri (NGP) on Sundays and Wednesdays at 12:10 pm Indian time and reach Haldibari at 1:10 pm. This station will leave at 1:15 with a 5 minute break.

There is a 30 minute break to take water in the train coach and cut the Indian engine to connect the engine of Bangladesh and cut two coaches for the passengers of Chilahati.
The train will leave Chilahati at 2.30 pm and reach Dhaka Cantonment Railway Station at 10.30 pm. Will not stand anywhere else on the way.

The return train from Bangladesh will leave Dhaka Cantonment Railway Station on Monday and Thursday at 9.50 pm. After that they will enter Chilahati railway station of Nilphamari at 5:45 in the morning.
The two coaches kept for the passengers of Chilahati will be connected here, water will be taken in the train and the engine of Bangladesh will be cut and the Indian engine will be connected and will leave for India at 6:15 in the morning.
