Mathiner Kup
Mathiner Kup is located in Teknaf Thana premises, near the Naf River in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar. In the late 18th century, there was only one well of potable water in Teknaf to meet the water shortage. Rakhine girls used to come to get water from a well in the premises of the Thana every day.
Police officer Dhiraj Bhattacharya was transferred to this Thana from Kolkata. Mathin, the daughter of a Rakhine landowner, also used to come to get water from here.
By chance, Dheeraj and Mathin fall in love and the two decide to get married. But suddenly, news of Dheeraj’s father’s illness comes. So Dheeraj wants to return to Kolkata but Mathin stops him from going. Mathin was afraid that Dheeraj might not return from Kolkata.
But Dheeraj leaves for Kolkata without informing Mathin. After the departure of his beloved, Mathin, the daughter of a Rakhine landowner, dies after waiting for a long time due to insomnia and hunger, sacrificing her beautiful life forever.
The local police administration preserved the sign of Dheeraj and Mathin’s love and named it Mathiner Kup. Almost 80 years after this incident, in 2006, Teknaf Police Station officer Khaled Hossain and journalist Abdul Quddus Rana renovated Mathin’s Well. Gradually, Mathin’s Well became known everywhere as a sign of immortal love.
Mermaid Beach Resort

The temple is named after the Hindu god Mahadev, Adinath. Another name for Adinath is Mahesh, from which the name Maheshkhali is derived. The temple is located 85.3 meters above sea level.

The safari park was established in 1999 by the Bangladesh Ministry of Forests and Environment, primarily as a deer breeding center.

Later, when the Muslims expelled from Arakan started coming to this island, Kutubuddin provided them with shelter. As a sign of respect, the island was named ‘Kutubuddin’s Diya’ which later came to be known as ‘Kutubdia’.
Chera Dwip
