The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Exam is a government examination conducted under the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
In order to participate in this exam, one must pass the test from any college approved by the Bangladesh Board of Education in the XI and XII.
Students have to sit in the main exam on the date fixed by the board. This test is known as the Higher Secondary Test.

HSC and equivalent exams started on November 6 last year. The total number of examinees under 11 education boards including 9 General Education Boards, Madrasas and Technical Boards was a little over 1.2 lakhs.

This time the average pass rate in General Education Board is 95.57 percent. Besides, the pass rate in Madrasa Board is 95.45 percent and the technical education board pass rate is 92.85 percent.

The government has decided to announce the results of the assessment (results of HSC) of higher secondary and equivalent candidates by 28 January 2021.
The decision was taken at a regular cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.

This time due to coronavirus, HSC and equivalent examinations were not held in the outgoing year. Instead it is decided to evaluate HSC candidates on the basis of average results of JSC and SSC and equivalent examinations.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the National Assembly would convene just six days later.
For this, the cabinet has decided that now it will be arranged to pass the bill directly at the beginning of the session without the ordinance.
The results of the assessment of HSC candidates will be announced by 28 January.
The cabinet secretary said the results of the HSC are ready. For this, the Ministry of Education came up with a proposal for an ordinance. But the cabinet has approved it with vetting to raise it in the upcoming parliament.

HSC Result Publish Date 2018
HSC Result 2018 published on 19 July 2018. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and the chairman of the education boards handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina this morning.
The HSC and equivalent examinations started on 2 April 2018. This year, 13 lakh 11 thousand 457 students took the exam. Out of these, 6 lakh 92 thousand 730 Boys and 6 lakh 18 thousand 727 Girls.
This year, the average pass rate for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and the equivalent board’s is 66.64 percent. GPA-5 has received 29,262 students.
